Post 21: Casino Royale

Well the blog a day competition has come to an end. Thanks to everyone for reading and going on this journey with me. I hope to update this blog at least once a week to let people know what movies are coming out and what I have seen. I am glad to have been able to participate in the competition but frustrated that only Regina and I completed it. Oh well, maybe in the future more people will join in.

This weekend was a long one and I saw a couple of movies, although I didn't see any that I had expected to. Today I am going to review an unexpectedly hilarious movie: Bridesmaids.

Bridesmaids

It is odd but a few scenes from this preview were not in the movie at all. Either that or I blocked them out but I'm pretty sure that kid eating the birth control pills was not in the film. Regardless, this movie is probably one of the funniest movies I have seen in quite some time.

Kristin Wiig plays Annie, a down and out woman that has to be the maid of honor to the wedding of her best friend Lillian played by Maya Rudolph. She meets Lillian's new friends and sees differences in her friend that she hadn't noticed before all the while realizing that her life is nowhere near where she thinks it should be.

Kristin Wiig has an uncanny ability to be the most awkward person in the world but make you laugh at it and not feel awkward yourself. Her interactions with those around her are priceless.

Unfairly, this movie has been billed as The Hangover for women. Saying that does a disservice to this film. Since people had said this I thought the movie was just trying to ride the coat tails of The Hangover and was expecting it to be terrible. I was sorely mistaken. It has minor similarities in that it revolves around a group of friends getting ready for a wedding but that's pretty much where the similarities end. Bridesmaids makes you laugh through its great writing and its great ensemble cast focused on relationships not asinine antics and highly improbable situations.

I give this movie a 9 out of 10, I'd watch it again and again and highly recommend that you watch it as well. The writing is great, the acting is great and you will definitely laugh a lot.

Well that is all I have time for today. Thank you very much for reading my blog and I hope to bring you more in the future. Let me know if you have any questions or comments about anything I post and please make sure you are enjoying yourself.

-Have Fun!
